Overview

This site doesn't use analytics, tracking, or advertising. No data is shared with third parties for marketing or analytics purposes. The sections below explain in detail what data is collected when you visit, what it's used for, and how long it's kept.

Who's responsible

Christian Pecher is responsible for the data processing on this site, reachable at print@vertmaps.com. See the Legal Notice for further details.

Hosting and server log files

This site is hosted with Namecheap Inc. Every time you visit, the hosting provider automatically processes information in server log files that your browser sends — typically your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, browser type and version, and operating system. This data is technically necessary to deliver the site securely and reliably, and isn't combined with any other data source. Cookies when voting ("Vote the next route into print")

When you vote for a route in the "Vote the next route into print" section, a cookie named vm_voter is stored in your browser. It contains a randomly generated identifier with no link to your name or any other personal details, and its only purpose is to stop the same route being voted for more than once. It's only set if you actively click the vote arrow, and stays valid for two years.

Voting also briefly stores your IP address alongside the time of the vote, in order to detect and limit automated repeat-voting. This is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a reliable voting result).

Since this cookie is strictly necessary for a feature you actively requested, no cookie-banner consent is required for it under applicable e-privacy rules.

Google Fonts

This site loads the "Roboto" and "Young Serif" typefaces via Google Fonts. When the page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) to fetch them, which sends your IP address to Google. It isn't fully clear whether or how long Google retains this data; Google states it can't link this to a Google account unless you're actively signed into one during your visit.

This data transfer happens as soon as the page loads, regardless of any interaction on your part. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in consistent, fast-loading typography). More information: policies.google.com/privacy.

Admin area

The admin area of this site is password-protected and accessible only to the site owner. Logging in sets a session cookie that keeps you signed in for the duration of that session. This cookie only affects whoever has valid admin access — not visitors to the public site.

External links

This site links to external platforms — notably Etsy (where the posters are sold), Instagram, and Strava. These platforms have their own privacy policies, which I have no control over or responsibility for. Clicking such a link takes you away from this site; no data is sent to that platform until you actively click the link.

Your rights

You have the right at any time to request access to data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict its processing, to data portability, and to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in Austria, that's the Datenschutzbehörde (dsb.gv.at).
